Paramilitary “El Mauricio” identified as responsible for the attack against the vice-president of Colombia

The caravan of the vice-president of Colombia, Francia Márquez, was the subject of a shooting attack on a highway in the department of Cauca last Wednesday and in less than 24 hours authorities announced that the person responsible for this frustrated assassination would be a paramilitary, former guerrilla fighter of the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The director of the National Police, William Salamanca, described as a “cowardly attack”, the one planned by alias Mauricio.

The vice-president, who is also head of the Equality and Equity portfolio, said that although there is nothing to regret, she cannot help but express her enormous concern for Cauca and for the permanent tension that the people of that region are experiencing.
