The National Assembly (AN), in its regular session, approved in its first discussion the Draft Law Approving the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation, in accordance with the provisions of Article 104 of the Internal Regulations and Debates of the AN, presented by the deputy Ilenia Medina.
In this regard, the deputy added that a body of this type has never existed, “that is why mediation is a mechanism that allows us to seek solutions by mutual agreement between the parties. For the first time, an agency will seek to resolve cases between the disputing parties since mediation.”
“Venezuela marks an international historic milestone, based on peace, on the basis of international law, because we are recovering what belongs to us by legitimate right; no one gave us anything, it was entire generations that gave up their lives,” he added, while asking the chamber to unanimously approve the report of the Foreign Policy Committee to enable Venezuela to ratify a document on this project.
For his part, the president of the parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, stressed that this is auspicious news for the purposes of the new international order and the new geopolitics based on a multipolar world. “We must create new bodies to seek solutions for the benefit of our peoples,” he said.
