Authorities in Madagascar confirmed that the number of deaths due to the passage of Cyclone Gamane rose to 18, while more than 20,000 people have been displaced due to the strong winds and rains caused by the meteorological event.

They reported that since last Wednesday, four people have been missing, while thousands of hectares of crops have been destroyed, as well as approximately 640 houses.

The National Office for Risk and Disaster Management (BNGRC, acronym in French), explained that the regions most damaged are Analanjirofo, Atsinana.
