This Thursday, the peace delegation of the Government of Colombia arrived in Caracas, Venezuela, for a new day of talks with the National Liberation Army (ELN), with the objective of addressing the situation of armed violence in the South American country.
“We believe that it is imperative to concentrate the work of the Dialogue Table on advancing the peace process, making decisions that develop the agenda and addressing substantive issues of the process,” said an official statement from the government delegation.
In this regard, he stressed that Venezuela is the place to discuss the agenda and thus advance the peace process.
“The international community is also here, attentive, ready to contribute as it has always been. It's time to concentrate the discussions on the (dialogue) Bureau,” he said.
According to the Xinhua website, the delegation arrived in Caracas one day after the official visit of Colombian President Gustavo Petro to Venezuela.
So far, the Colombian Government and the ELN have signed 26 agreements, including community participation and a national ceasefire extended for one year, until August 3, 2024.
