Last Wednesday, in the town of Juliaca Peru, citizens, transporters and merchants began a 48-hour strike, as a measure of protest against the inaction of the Government of President-designate Dina Boluarte and the assassination of a local leader.

The 48-hour strike was initiated by citizens, transporters and merchants in the city of Juliaca, located in the department of Puno, where on January 15, 2023, 18 people were killed during the protests against the Boluarte regime.

In this regard, leaders are considering proposing a recall for Mayor Óscar Cáceres, as he does not comply with his public security plan, Telesur explained.

The protest also took place in the context of the assassination of the young leader Sara Calla, who demanded the closure of the nightclubs and clandestine bars that disturbed the tranquility of the area.

The population has blocked the roads leading to the departments of Arequipa and Cusco, they have burned tires. They also demand the curb of public insecurity, crime and call for the restructuring of the National Police.
