This Sunday, on the first day of group B of the 2024 Under-23 Football Qualifying Championship, Peru's national team beat Chile 1-0.
Despite taking the victory, the red and white team was subdued and dominated by its Chilean counterpart in the first and second half of the match.
The Chileans had possession of the ball for most of the game, however, the Peruvians knew how to position themselves defensively and managed to keep their fence at 0. The Incas managed to score their only goal in the 67th minute by Francesco Flores, who made the difference coming from the bench with a strong right that was unstoppable for the goalkeeper, a target with which he would end up giving victory to the red and white team.
It is worth noting that with 3 minutes left in the 90', Peru was left with 10 players on the field due to the expulsion of defender Llontop at 87' after a strong entry against the Chilean attacker on the edge of the box.
The team is resting and preparing for their next match against the youth category of world champions (Argentina U-23) next Wednesday, January 24 at the Misael Delgado Sports Center in Valencia, where this same commitment was played.
