The Peruvian Public Ministry asked the Judiciary to ban Dina Boluarte, the recently dismissed former president, from leaving the country.

The preventive measure will last 36 months and is linked to an investigation into alleged irregularities during Pedro Castillo's election campaign, in which Boluarte ran as a vice-presidential candidate.

On Friday morning, the Congress of the Republic approved the dismissal of Boluarte for permanent moral incapacity, in the midst of the security crisis affecting several regions of the country. After the legislative decision, José Jerí, president of the Parliament, assumed the position of acting head of state.

The former president is facing several lawsuits for alleged administrative violations. On May 16, the Public Prosecutor's Office filed a constitutional lawsuit alleging aggravated collusion with the legislature in connection with the state's Qali Warma school feeding program. According to the case, Boluarte allegedly took advantage of her position as Minister of Development and Social Inclusion—a position she held between July 2021 and December 2022—to favor Víctor Torres Merino, who had close family ties to her, in the award of public contracts.

In addition, on March 18, 2024, an investigation was opened for the omission of a declaration of assets, specifically for not declaring ownership of 14 luxury watches, including a Rolex model estimated at US$14,000. However, on May 25, the Public Ministry dismissed the charges.
