The Unitary Union of Journalism and Communication Workers of Peru (SUTPECOS) condemned this Friday the assassination attempt against the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, “led by the counter-revolution for the northern empire”.

Through a statement, the union confirmed its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and wished success in the presidential elections on July 28.

In the text, the Peruvian union indicates that the electoral process will be “a democratic festival for the peoples of the Great Latin American Homeland”, and confirmed that the upcoming elections have their own dynamic that interests only Venezuelans, “who have to resolve their contradictions without external interference that sharpens electoral processes.”

“Their forms, their peculiarities and peculiarities are typical of Venezuelans, the only ones called to resolve, especially if no electoral force is impeded from the participatory exercise of either the center, the left or the political right,” said SUTPECOS.

They add that “the Venezuelan people will know, with intelligence, to resolve in accordance with the interests of the majorities”, stressing that the process of changes in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the military insurgency of President Hugo Chávez tends to consolidate their independence and sovereignty in the face of North American imperial policy based on the Monroe Doctrine, TELESUR reports on its web portal.

This sovereignty, confirms SUTPECOS, has made Venezuela subject to “economic blockade, sanctions, embargoes, and interference in its internal affairs, promoting return and encouraging internal counterrevolution and even the threat of military invasion.”
