This Tuesday, November 4, Pope Leo XIV urged “seeking dialogue” to find a solution to the problems between the United States and Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, and insists that “with violence we will not win”, when consulted by journalists after the recent attacks in the area, reported the SWI portal.
“The most important thing is to seek dialogue,” said the pontiff after the American president, Donald Trump, assured that he “does not believe” that the United States will enter into war with Venezuela.
In his appearance before the press after leaving his residence in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome, Pope Leo XIV also referred to the situation in the Middle East, where he said that peace “is very fragile” and must be based on “the justice of all peoples”.
“Thank God, at least the first phase of the peace agreement is going ahead, but it's very fragile. It is necessary to see how to move towards the second part, to address the issue of the Government and guarantee the rights of all,” he explained.
He said that “the issue of the West Bank is complex: Israel had said one thing and then sometimes another is done. We must try to work together for justice and for all Peoples.”
Leo XIV also took advantage of the fact that this Tuesday is the Day of the Armed Forces in Italy to congratulate the military and remember that “countries have the right to have armed forces to defend peace, to build peace”.
During the same informal meeting, Leo XIV was asked about the partial collapse of a medieval tower in Rome that occurred on Monday during restoration work, in which an operator died.
The pope stressed that “it is a right of the human being to have decent work”, which allows “to earn a living for the good of the family”, in addition to expressing his concern for “occupational safety, an issue that affects not only Italy, but the entire world”.
