Pope Leo XIV, in his greeting after the Angelus prayer, called on key figures in global politics this Sunday to raise awareness of those affected by the war.
During this 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Supreme Pontiff declared that “peace is the desire of all peoples and is the painful cry of those torn by war. We ask the Lord to touch the hearts and inspire the minds of the rulers, so that they replace gun violence with the search for dialogue.”
The highest representative of the Catholic Church also raised his prayers and expressed his condolences for the young victims caused by the Guadalupe River floods in Texas, in the United States.
He also invoked the Virgin Mary to “intercede for us and accompany us on the path of following the Lord, so that we too can become joyful workers of the Kingdom of God”.
He pointed out that the Church and the world do not need “second-hand Christians”, but rather “workers willing to work in the field of mission, disciples in love who bear witness to the Kingdom of God”.
