Popular Power installed commissions for the Second National Popular Consultation in Mérida

The organized Popular Power of the state of Mérida began this Saturday the territorial deployment for the technical conduct of the Second National Popular Consultation 2026, with the formal installation of municipal commissions that will coordinate the direct approval of funding from the grassroots.

The director of the Ministry of Popular Power for the Communes in the Andean entity and responsible for the Secretariat for Political Transformation and Popular Power, Evelin Quintero, reported that the deployment was consolidated in the 23 municipalities of the region, and assured that organized communities register the formation of 13 new spaces for territorial aggregation.

He noted that consultation meetings begin next week, in which the organized people will submit seven projects for each commune. “The objective is to guarantee the active participation of the sectors that make life in the territories, consolidating participatory and proactive democracy adjusted to local realities,” said Quintero.

The official explained that the mechanisms of direct transfer to Popular Power record two years of continuous management in the entity, a period in which the communities have achieved the execution of more than 1,200 projects and direct solutions in the territorial axes.
