Popular Street Economy will form the Social and Solidarity Economic Units

Directorate of Urban Control formalizes popular street commerce

The Urban Control Department of the Mayor's Office of Caracas (A.C.) met with the vendors of Popular Street Economy from 12 parishes, in order to install the Permanent Assemblies to form the Social and Solidarity Economic Units (UESS), which will guarantee the organization of the popular movement in the Venezuelan capital.

In this regard, Jorge Cordero, director of Urban Control of the A.C., held the meeting with representatives of the popular economy sector, which brings together spokespersons for kioskeros, kioskeras, wineries, street vendors in authorized sectors, to contribute to the establishment of UESS in the capital city.

“We are evaluating the proposals that will help organize the sector of the popular street economy, in order to establish that in each street, it is the popular power that establishes the rules and guarantees the peace, coexistence and productivity of the municipality,” said Cordero.

Oriana Rodríguez, head of UBCH in the San José parish and spokesperson for the popular economy sector of Calle, highlighted the importance of the organization to consolidate basic structures in order to achieve the collective objective, which is the ordering of merchants as established in the corresponding laws.

He also called on the militancy to reiterate their support for the Bolivarian Revolution as a formula to build the productive process in the midst of the siege and sanctions of imperialism and to be able to keep the country in peace.

It should be noted that sellers of popular economy from the parishes, Catedral, La Candelaria, El Recreo, San Pedro, Caricuao, San Juan, San José, Antímano, San Agustín, Sucre, La Vega, Santa Rosalía participated in this assembly; with the institutional assistance of inspectors from the coordination of Popular Street Economy from different permitted sectors: hot dogs and hamburgers, vegetable fairs, creole candies, kiosks, cachaça, screen; as well as, not allowed: clothes, dry goods, flowers among others.
