Portuguesa beat Lara and won the title in the softball qualifier in Barinas

Portuguesa won the title of champion of the men's softball qualifying
tournament for the XXII Youth
National Sports Games 2026, after beating Lara 9 by 5 in the last match of the super round, in
the tournament held in Barinas.
The Portuguese team led Group B undefeated in the elimination phase with three victories and confirmed their favouritism after adding another trio of victories in the superround, according to the press release of the Ministry of People's Power for Sport.
For her part, Lara ruled in Group C,
finishing in first position with an undefeated record of three victories.
In the final match, Portuguesa demonstrated its offensive
power by winning 9 runs by 5 against Lara, to win the tournament title and
qualify for the National Games.
José Medina took the victory for the ninth
lanera and Leonardo Valladares took the defeat by the twilight.
On the other hand, the fight for third place
Anzoátegui beat Barinas 7 by 6. The victory went to José Torrealba
and the setback fell to Héctor Cumana.
After the end of the qualifying tournament, the
eight teams that secured their place for the National
Youth Sports Games are Portuguesa, Lara, Anzoátegui, Barinas, Carabobo, Mérida, Zulia and Caracas, the latter in its capacity as headquarters.
