Portuguesa closes 2025-2026 sugar harvest with more than three million tons of ground cane

A total of three million 466,537 tons of cane were milled in the Portuguese state during the 2025-2026 sugar harvest, which began on November 3 and ended this Sunday, April 12 in the llanera entity.

The state's four sugar mills reported processing 100% of the planned canes and managed to exceed three million 380 thousand 418.81 tons of cane milled in Portuguesa in the 2024-2025 harvest.

2,777 small, medium and large sugar cane farmers arrived at the mills, as a result of the 59,661 hectare harvest established in “the sweet axis of Portuguesa”, made up of the municipalities Guanare and Papelón and in the area of influence of the Las Majaguas Irrigation System, specifically in Agua Blanca, San Rafael de Oonto and Acarigua (Páez).

This season, Portuguesa achieved an increase in milling of 86,118.67 tons of cane and, as is tradition, the Portuguese Sugar Plant led the harvest with the processing of 1,743,310.18 tons.

Second was the Molipasa Power Plant with 891,200 tons of ground cane; third was the Las Majaguas Power Plant with 670,282.44 tons of cane; and fourth was the Batalla de Araure Central with 161,744.86 tons of processed cane.
