The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, urged the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States (USA) not to “stick its spoon” into the country's affairs.

The president's reaction comes after insinuating that a possible reform of the Mexican Judiciary, in which it would be established that the ministers of the Supreme Court should be elected by the people, opens up the possibility of drug trafficking running for judges and magistrates.

“To put it colloquially, but with all due respect, who are they to decide on issues that belong to Mexicans? Who authorized them to stick their spoon into our affairs?” , he said.

The president, in his usual meeting with the media, added that “they must act prudently, because Mexico is an independent country.”
