President in charge: El Helicoide will be transformed into a social, cultural, sports and commercial center

The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, announced that the Bolivarian Government has decided to convert the police center and the Helicoide, as a place dedicated to culture, recreation, sports, social and economic for the police family and the communities adjacent to this infrastructure,

“I announce the conversion of the Helicolide facilities as a social, cultural, sports and commercial center for the police family and the communities surrounding this compound,” stressed Rodríguez, who questioned the socio-economic selectivity that prevails in Venezuelan detention centers as a result of the criminalization of poverty.

“I ask you to turn this reality around and for the Venezuelan State to have social and economic intervention for crime prevention, and I also ask for alternative measures of justice to punishment and punishment for our prisoners of liberty within the framework of the categorization of crimes,” stressed the president in charge.

He also cited article 26 of the Constitution, according to which the State shall guarantee free, accessible, impartial, ideal, transparent, autonomous, independent, responsible, equitable and expeditious justice, without undue delay, without formalism or useless repositions.

“The announcements we have presented today are so that this article is valid in every sense and to the full extent of the words, because this article also enshrines the spirit of our liberating father Simón Bolívar and there is also the spirit of Chávez when he came to political power in Venezuela to tell a vast majority of the country that he had been excluded by political elites in our country, to tell him here there must be equality, inclusion, equity and social justice,” said the trustee.
