The President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reaffirmed that the Bolivarian Government will maintain the line of Peace Diplomacy to continue an understanding and develop a work agenda with the United States government.
He argued that the Venezuelan people support that differences with the U.S. government, “must be done in a diplomatic manner through political, diplomatic and bilateral dialogue.”
In this regard, he specified that “these days I have had telephone conversations with the President of the United States, Donald Trump and with the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. That must be the path, respect for international legality and interpersonal respect, knowing that we can build a work agenda, based on our differences”.
This was stated on Tuesday, February 3rd, one month after the military aggression of the United States government against Venezuela and the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and the first female combatant, Cilia Flores.
“From the first few hours I said it: this attack constitutes a stain on our relationships and we have to work hard, with respect to overcome our differences,” he said.
He also stated that “in these 30 days Venezuela has transmuted and matured the impact of aggression on the part of the United States, with peace of mind, in caring for peace today more than ever.”
The president in charge assured that “the extremist right was looking for chaos in Venezuela the next day and hours later, seeking to alter the country's tranquility, but the Venezuelan people, with great maturity and awareness, recovered from this attack and have taken important steps in the direction of the national meeting.”
