The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a meeting with the representative of the Pan American Health Organization, Armando Negriy, and the sectoral vice-president for the area of Health, Science, Technology and Ecology and Minister of Popular Power for Health, Nuramy Gutiérrez, to address the health system in Venezuela.

He explained that they talked about “the best way to guarantee a process that allows the unification of the free public system to guarantee a fundamental human right to Venezuelans.”

“We have also reviewed a different complex of diseases, we have also seen support and cooperation through PAHO in vaccination processes in Venezuela in different diseases, such as the arrival in our country of supplies, of vaccines that are required for the functioning of the health system in Venezuela,” he said.

The president in charge thanked the meeting held because it also reviewed the entire health situation in the region. “I didn't do this because I was executive vice president during the COVID pandemic, because we had close cooperation, collaboration and coordination with PAHO. We are also seeing how with PAHO we can strengthen the capacities of the ministry and the health system in Venezuela with regard to the structure, with the strategic plan (...) what has to do with coordination with the private health system in the country and how to strengthen the capacities of the statistical health system in Venezuela”.
