President Maduro calls on parliamentarians from the region to defend the sovereignty and stability of the Caribbean

President Nicolás Maduro Moros led the Parliamentary Meeting of the Greater Caribbean in Defense of Peace from the “Simon Bolivar” Hall, in the Miraflores Palace, where he received legislators from numerous nations participating in the international legislative event.

“This important summit, which began this Friday at the headquarters of the National Assembly, articulates efforts to defend the sovereignty and stability of the region, and categorically reject the threat of military aggression by the United States (US) against the Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez and all Latin American countries,” stressed the Head of State.

This event is aimed at condemning the attacks in the Caribbean carried out by the administration of US President Donald Trump, and which are sponsored by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

The call is made after having held a series of working groups of the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace, in its different chapters. During these days, activities and meetings were held with all sectors of public, civil, cultural, economic and political life throughout the country, with the main objective of preserving peace and guaranteeing the sovereignty of the Nation.

Authorities and assistants

In this regard, it is important to highlight that this forum is chaired by Jorge Rodríguez Gómez, president of the National Assembly (AN) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, who is accompanied by the second vice-president of the AN, Deputy América Pérez, Deputy Timoteo Zambrano, president of the Permanent Committee on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration of the AN, among other national authorities.

This event is also attended by 38 international guests from different countries, such as Cuba, Nicaragua, Colombia, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras and Uruguay.

All of them categorically reject U.S. military attacks and interference in the internal affairs of other nations.
