“Long live the patriotic military!” , this was exclaimed by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro this Saturday, April 13, at the close of the Great March of Popular Victory of the April Revolution.

The Head of State recalled that it was Jesús Rafael Suárez Chourio (now a member of the National Assembly), who together with a group of courageous people led the military operation to rescue the Miraflores Palace. “They were outraged and in pain, Commander Chávez had been kidnapped and wanted to kill him,” he said.

The Head of State stated that “the surnames gave the order to assassinate Commander Chávez and it was a young man named Orta (now an officer) who stepped in and told them that if they didn't lay down their weapons they would kill each other.”

President Maduro assured that “now there are patriotic and courageous soldiers in Venezuela willing to fight, to defend the Homeland and the Bolivarian constitution.”
