This Monday, April 15, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the 2002 coup d'etat, “perverse and diabolical mounted by surnames and the revolutionary counterattack, was given by Commander Hugo Chávez”.
“22 years after one of the most important struggles and moments in the history of Latin America and the Caribbean, of the last 100 years,” he recalled.
The head of state said that “on April 13 and 14, the People came out to meet their Armed Forces and there was a popular resurrection never seen in Venezuela that allowed the rescue of democracy, constitutionality and Commander Chávez without violence.”
He stated that the week that ended is “historic, the week from April 08 to 14, this year coincided perfectly, every 11 years it's the cycle”.
In that sense, he commented, it was one of battle and absolute victory, taking stock of the events, whose dates were commemorated, “People in the street mobilized (...) every 11 years the days are repeated exactly as the events were”.
He said this during the 41st edition of his program “With Maduro+”, where he stated that “our fundamental value as revolutionaries, as Bolivarians, as Chavistas is humility. I am simply a worker, an ordinary man.”
He recalled that with his first candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic, “a total triumph and we beat the surnames, one of the most disastrous surnames there has ever been here: Capriles (...) has not yet recovered from the knockout I gave him and I was a rookie”.
He stated that “every atom of my consciousness, of my mind, of my life, of my being was formed by Chávez. He re-educated us. Chávez always placed his main emphasis on shaping the people as a heroic people, of battles, of struggles, with conscience, with national identity. Without the People of Venezuela, we are nobody.”
