President Maduro on conversation with Trump: it was even pleasant... but the evolutions were not

In reference to speculations about a second telephone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported that only one contact has been made, which he described as cordial.

“We had only one conversation. He called me on Friday, November 21 from the White House, and I was at the Miraflores Palace. We talked for 10 minutes. And it was a conversation, as I said, respectful, very respectful, cordial”, explained the head of state in an interview with writer and journalist Ignacio Ramonet, this Thursday, January 1, 2026.

He noted that “that conversation was even pleasant. But since then, the post-conversation developments have not been pleasant. Let's hope. I entrust everything to God. Almighty God. Creator of heaven and earth,” he said.

In this regard, he sent a message to the Americans: “To the people of the United States, I tell them what I have been saying that here in Venezuela they have a sister people; to the people of the United States, I even tell them, they have a friendly government here,” he emphasized.
