This Tuesday, President Nicolás Maduro Moros participated in an extraordinary meeting of the heads of state and government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), where he announced the closure of the Venezuelan embassy in Quito and the consulate located in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
“We closed the Venezuelan embassy in Quito immediately and we must close the consulate in Guayaquil and that diplomatic personnel return immediately. From here I give you the order to close it and return,” he said.
The action of the national president comes in rejection of the assault ordered by Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa, on the Mexican embassy in the city of Quito.
