The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, lamented this Tuesday the physical departure of former Uruguayan president José “Pepe” Mujica, a leader of the Latin American left.
“With deep regret, we convey our condolences and feelings of solidarity to the colleagues and families of José 'Pepe' Mujica,” said the head of state through his Telegram channel.
He stressed that Mujica was a “humble and tireless social fighter, whose life was one of struggle, facing all vicissitudes with integrity and dignity. The people of Uruguay and the world will always remember him fondly.”
The Dignitary pointed out that “from the revolutionary, libertarian Venezuela heir to Bolívar and Chávez, we send a fraternal embrace to the people of José Gervasio Artigas; our brother people. Honor and eternal glory to 'Pepe' Mujica!”
