This Sunday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, shared some memories of the swearing in of Commander Hugo Chávez, on February 2, 1999, when he took office for the first time.

Through his social networks, the Head of State disseminated images of that date together with the first combatant Cilia Flores. “I have beautiful memories seeing these photos that some friends sent me, it was February 2, 1999, the day that Commander Hugo Chávez was sworn in as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the beginning of this journey, the Bolivarian Revolution in power,” he said.

He recalled that that day, “in the Courtyard of the Academies, Commander Fidel gave some extraordinary words and then the speech of our Commander Chávez, both of them explained to us the path of revolutionary struggle, which today we continue to move forward with the people in power and with a clear path towards great transformations for the Fatherland.”

He stressed that “The looks are the same, the love is the same! Our eyes are set on the future, with that love that I feel and is overwhelming for the Fatherland, the people and for Cilita”.
