The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, during his stay in the city of Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, held a meeting with the governor of that town, Alexander D. Beglov.
“Friends of our country, we are amazed at your determination to follow the course of Commander Hugo Chávez, today we remembered one more page in the heroic history of Russia and Venezuela,” said the governor.
Beglov recalled that a monument to Francisco de Miranda, presented by Commander Chávez, was erected in Saint Petersburg in 2012. To himself, a floral offering was brought by the Venezuelan delegation, he said.
In this regard, President Maduro, with a painting in the hands of the Venezuelan hero, emphasized that "Francisco de Miranda is the forerunner of American Independence... The first Latin American to arrive in these lands, I want to thank them, for everything Catalina did in her time for Francisco de Miranda.”
The Head of State also thanked the support received by his counterpart Vladimir Putin, Commander Chávez and Venezuela.
