The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, during his arrival in Moscow, assured that Venezuela aligns with the anti-fascist movement represented by Russia at a time when that nation celebrates the 80th anniversary of the “Victory Day” over the German troops of Adolf Hitler, who freed Europe and the world from the Nazi threat.
“We come to bring the always firm, courageous and supportive greetings of the Venezuelan people, from the spiritual strength of Simon Bolivar, Hugo Chávez, our Supreme Commander, and from a people that fight against imperialism, such as the People of Venezuela,” said the national president.
He thanked the opportunity to celebrate together with the Russian People the victorious battle of 80 years ago in the Great Patriotic War.
“On April 30, we were commemorating the taking of Berlin and now we come to commemorate the surrender of the Nazi criminal army against the Red Army of the Soviet Union, which put 27 million human beings in this conflict, with tough battles such as the defense of Stalingrad or Leningrad, but then millions of men and women came to Berlin to liberate Europe, which has to thank the Red Army of the Soviet Union for freeing them from Nazi-fascism,” he said.
He assured that international law and the multilateral structure of the United Nations are in crisis and are once again under threat. “Our presence here is a confirmation of the path of humanity. It has to be peace, understanding, respect for the equality of States and it is also an expression of infinite historical admiration to the Russian people for the immense contribution they made to humanity,” he said.
He added that the victory over Nazism was humanity's greatest victory in the face of the criminal threat posed by the German terror regime. “We are here with the strength of the Venezuelan Bolivarian People telling President Putin and the Russian people, here Venezuela is always firm.”
