President Maduro to Ignacio Ramonet: 2017 was the year of the miracle of peace in Venezuela

President Nicolás Maduro, during an interview conducted by writer and journalist Ignacio Ramonet, assured that the 120 days of guarimbas, the Constituent Assembly and the miraculous peace, the year 2017 was, politically speaking, very fruitful because of the electoral triumphs that followed.

“From the 17th, the year of the 120 days of guarimbas, the year of the Constituent Assembly and the miraculous peace, the year we triumphed in the most competitive election of governorships we have ever had; out of 23 governorates we won 20. Then we won the country's mayors, and it was a very fruitful year politically speaking; then all these years came 18, 19, 20,” he said.

During the dialogue, which began at the Miraflores Palace and spread to various parts of the capital, the national president recalled the challenges overcome since then, describing 2017 as the year of “miraculous peace”, where the country went from guarimba violence to the consolidation of the National Constituent Assembly and a decisive electoral victory in the governorates and mayors.
