President Maduro welcomes Putin's proposal to resume peace negotiations with Ukraine

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed the proposal of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to resume direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to resume on May 15 in Istanbul, Türkiye.

“I was able to see President Putin's statement announcing direct negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul for May 15 and I really want to express the joy of our government, of our people, of Venezuela at this announcement,” said the Head of State from St. Petersburg, where he is on a working visit after participating in the events for the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War.

In a video released by RT, he highlighted that Putin is “a man who defends the interests of his country, but who is very clear about the whole picture of what world peace should be”.
