President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva celebrated this Wednesday the results of the Atlas of Violence 2026, which confirm that in 2024 Brazil achieved the lowest homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants recorded in its history.

The study was prepared by the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA) in conjunction with the Brazilian Public Security Forum. The data reflect the direct impact of the strategic actions implemented by the federal government in the area of citizen security.

During his speech, the president acknowledged that the absolute numbers of violence in the country still remain at worrying levels. However, he emphasized the importance of the downward curve observed in recent years.

Lula noted that this positive trend confirms that the country is on a path of consolidation thanks to the effectiveness of current public policies. The president reaffirmed his commitment to deepen these measures to guarantee social peace throughout the Brazilian territory.

The federal administration emphasized that this achievement is the result of a coordinated effort between the different spheres of the State. He also stressed that current indicators serve as an incentive to continue to reduce crime rates in the years to come.
