The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, reaffirmed the dignity of the people of New Granada in the face of threats of imperialist aggression by the United States.
Durante the commemoration of the 97th anniversary of the Banana Massacre in Ciénaga - Magdalena, on December 6, 1928, pointed out that the current geopolitical challenges are similar to the pressure that the United States put before the massacre of 1928. “It seems that these were the same moments,” he said, assuring that today, unlike before, the Government is “on the side of the workers”.
En In this regard, he recalled that the Banana Massacre took place after foreign intervention was threatened if the Colombian Government supported the banana workers on strike. In response to this, he stated: “Today the president of Colombia is not Abadía Méndez; today the president is on the side of those who work.”
“The head of government emphasized that the teachings of the murder of workers on December 6, 1928 are still valid today, remembering the victims,” said Venezolana de Televisión.
