Last Tuesday, President Gustavo Petro told the United Nations Security Council to denounce “the Colombian State's non-compliance” with the implementation of the 2016 Peace Agreement.

The statement was made by the head of state during the signing of the agreement between the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) and the Agency for Reincorporation and Standardization (ARN) to carry out restorative projects.

“I will go to the Security Council as head of state and I will state the truth: that the State of Colombia, not the current government, breached the peace agreement with the FARC and failed to fulfill the commitment he had made in 2016 to humanity,” said the Colombian president during the signing of the ARN.

Especially in the areas of Catatumbo, Cauca and Chocó, where violence, poverty and illegal economies remain the order of the day.
