This Tuesday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, responded to the surprise decision taken by the Donald Trump administration in the United States (USA) to impose new tariffs on the import of Mexican tomatoes.

“We are going to give different options to tomato producers in our country and to continue fighting in the United States,” the president warned at a press conference, after being questioned about the trade dispute.

“We don't agree (...), anyway, Mexican tomatoes are going to continue to be exported,” Sheinbaum said, noting that two out of every three tomatoes consumed in the United States are produced in Mexico and there is no substitute supplier.
