The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, reaffirmed a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with Venezuela.
During a video call conversation with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, Putin asserted that Russia and Venezuela have advanced in unbreakable cooperative relations, based on ties of friendship, trust and mutual consideration of interests.
“Our conversation coincides with an important date, which is 80 years of establishing diplomatic relations between our countries,” he said.
He also indicated that Russian and Venezuelan relations demonstrate a gradual development in the future. “For our part, we will do everything possible to further strengthen the nature of our relations in the cultural, technical, commercial, cultural and humanitarian fields,” he said.
Putin recalled that diplomatic relations were further strengthened with then-President Hugo Chávez. “I fondly remember all our conversations. Thanks to his contribution, his brilliant ideas and his tough and firm position, we advanced our relations.”
He also thanked President Maduro for all his support and invited him to visit Russia in May.
He added that in the fight against fascism, Venezuela sided with Russia and helped it with lubricants and gasoline. “Today together we advocate against all expressions of neofascism and colonialism,” he said.
