President Xi Jinping sent congratulatory message to the X CELAC Summit

The President of China, Xi Jinping, sent a message of congratulations to the X Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which took place this Saturday, March 22, in Bogotá, Colombia.

In the message, President Jinping said that, since its establishment, CELAC has been committed to promoting peace, stability, development and prosperity in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region, injecting a new impetus to the unity, cooperation and common development of the Global South.

Last May, the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum was successfully held in Beijing, the Xinhua Agency reported on its website.

He added that he attended the opening ceremony and announced that China and Latin America would jointly undertake the five programs of solidarity, development, civilizations, peace and peoples, which received positive responses from ALC.

He also stated that over the past year, China and the LAC countries have collaborated closely, promoting the firm and constant implementation of the five programs and bringing tangible benefits to the Peoples of both sides.

The president emphasized that China will always be a good friend and partner of LAC countries, and will support them in defending their sovereignty, security and development interests.

He stressed that China is willing to join forces with LAC countries to defend equity and international justice, and to jointly write a new chapter in building the China-LAC community of shared future.

“I wish for the full success of this Summit of the Heads of State and Government of CELAC,” he said.
