Presidents of Russia and Türkiye meet at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit

This Wednesday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, meets with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

The meeting began this day in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, and will last two days. The main program of the summit is scheduled for Thursday, but the Russian president has already arrived at the venue and has started bilateral meetings.

During the conversation with Putin, the Turkish head of state invited the Russian president to visit his country soon. According to Putin, commercial exchange between Moscow and Ankara amounted to 55 billion dollars annually, in this regard, the Russian president admitted that there has been a slight decline in recent months.

Putin's agenda includes meetings with at least six other leaders: Chinese President Xi Jinping; President of Azerbaijan, Iljam Aliyev; leader of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh; Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif; President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Yomart Tokayev; and the interim president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Mokhber, detailed Russia Today (RT).
