Presidents of Venezuela and Cuba honor Father of the Fatherland Simon Bolivar in Russia

This Thursday, May 08, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and his counterpart from Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, honored the Father of the Fatherland Simon Bolivar with a floral offering in the colors of the Venezuelan national flag and performing the anthems of Venezuela, Cuba and Russia.
“We are here at a historic moment and we come to honor the great liberator of our America, Simon Bolivar,” he said.
In this regard, from the equestrian statue of Libertad in Moscow, President Maduro highlighted the importance of his visit to Russia on this date to accompany the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Red Army saving humanity from fascism.
“And I said yesterday to comrade President Vladimir Putin in historical justice (...) the Red Army, after the Nazi troops and tanks arrived 8 km from the Kremlin and were able to start the counteroffensive, liberate Stalingrad, liberate Leningrad and St. Petersburg from the criminal siege and advance and managed to liberate Poland, Austria, Yugoslavia and the rest of Europe, they reached the heart of the Nazi regime, freed the German people, liberating and so to the people of Europe,” he said.
He reaffirmed that Russia, in liberating humanity, belongs to “the triumph yesterday and the triumph belongs to it today and the triumph will belong to it forever; that is why we come to say with Bolívar this 21st century, it is our century, the century of peace, of the union of peoples, of sovereignty, of independence and of the right to development and the future”.
After honoring the Father of the Fatherland, the Head of State shared with the youth of Moscow and the Cuban delegation whom he thanked them for this offering to our Liberator.
The activity was part of the activities on the occasion of the visit of President Nicolás Maduro to the Russian Federation on the occasion of the commemoration of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany on May 9, 1945.
