The president of
the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, met this Friday with
his counterpart from the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, during the Summit of
the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Together with the
Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio
Gutérres, both leaders exchanged gifts from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
In this context,
the Venezuelan Dignitary provided a representative sample of
national products and highlighted that the Bolivarian nation reached 97% in
food production, “for the first time in a hundred years.”
For his part, Ali
also presented a gift to President Maduro.
This is within the framework
of the Peace Diplomacy promoted by the Bolivarian Government, in the midst of days of dialogue between Venezuela and Guyana, with the mediation
of
Latin American and Caribbean countries, in the midst of strong political tensions over the dispute over the Essequibo territory.
