The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, assured that US imperialism cannot give lessons on how to make free and fair elections, referring to the position taken by the United States (USA) in the face of the results of the presidential elections held in Venezuela last July 28.

According to information published on the web portal of a well-known national newspaper, he stressed that the position of the United States in the face of elections in the Bolivarian nation has always been to ignore the results and to call them “unfair” without presenting any evidence.

“From the beginning, they say it's not free; it's not fair. And no one gave reasons? The independent observers who are present have declared that the elections were free and fair. President Maduro responded, saying, “Okay, you want to challenge this; we're going to go to the Supreme Court of Venezuela to review everything we've done.” They said: No, the Supreme Court is in your pocket. Some foreigners have to come and do it,” he explained.

However, Gonsalves said he was respectful of the internal affairs of our country and the United States, whom he described as “his friends”.

He also reiterated Saint Vincent's respect for all countries and added that “the U.S. government and the American people are our friends, and we have excellent relations with them.”
