This Monday, February 23, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reaffirmed that extremist sectors, without knowing the reality of the country and without being part of the State, do harm with a distorted and adverse discourse, “far from what the Venezuelan people want to hear and see.”

He stressed that the Venezuelan population yearns to materialize key words such as reconciliation, progress, justice, peace and coexistence.

This was stated in the program A Pulso, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, where he ratified that the Law of Amnesty and Democratic Coexistence, approved by the National Parliament, excludes crimes such as homicide, crimes against humanity, corruption, drug trafficking and human rights violations.

Saab argued that, since the enactment of the Amnesty for Democratic Coexistence Act, to date approximately three thousand people have been favored.

He specified that the lists held by the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) in its data update system have been reviewed, depending on the plots and causes established in this Amnesty Act.

He pointed out that all those citizens who are abroad and wish to take advantage of the Amnesty Law must comply with Venezuelan law and put themselves in law.

He also considered that in the context of the coup d'etat that occurred in Venezuela in 2002, the legal status of people directly linked to homicides in those events must be evaluated.

“This would allow us to consider another measure from a technical-legal perspective, outside the Amnesty for Democratic Coexistence Act,” he explained.

On the other hand, he said that the gesture of converting the Helicoide into a cultural and sports center has been greeted all over the country, recalling that some sports and medical care centers were already operating in that space.

The prosecutor said that those who insist that nothing has happened “represent a micro-minority sector, whose rude and haughty way of expressing themselves does not reflect the feelings of the Venezuelan people.”

On another point, he considered that, when the time comes, there will be a rapprochement, as well as international criminal cooperation between the Attorney General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Attorney General of the United States, Pamela Bondi, as it exists with other nations of the world.
