The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, rejected the reckless accusations of Óscar Murillo, general coordinator of PROVEA (Venezuelan Program for Education-Action in Human Rights), in which he reports the alleged disappearance of a collaborator of his organization.
The information was released by the Public Ministry (MP), on his account of the social network Instagram, in which prosecutor Saab stated that these attacks on the actions of the Venezuelan justice system against destabilizing and anti-peace groups in the Republic are part of a sustained campaign to guarantee impunity.
In his statement, he reported that in the case of Eduardo Torres, contrary to what this spokesman points out, he has been arrested for his connection to a conspiracy plot to generate violence during the elections scheduled for May 25.
Eduardo Torres, through a structure called Citizen Training Nodes, funded by foreign agents, used training workshops as a front to organize pockets of violence, calling for the destruction of electoral centers and spreading messages of hate and annihilation towards the legitimately constituted State authorities.
These messages were also disseminated by this citizen, publicly through social networks. In this case there are several people involved who have already been identified and are being sought by the competent courts.
This citizen, highlighted the Prosecutor, was presented as established by the procedural lapses, guaranteeing his right to defense and was ordered a measure of deprivation of liberty for the crimes of conspiracy, terrorism, treason and association.
In this regard, the MP is evaluating from a legal point of view whether to proceed with respect for the internal legality of Venezuela in the face of these reckless accusations made by Murillo, which are used abroad to attack the Constitution and the Venezuelan people.
Saab reiterated that in all criminal proceedings in the country there is a strict adherence to legality, due process and the principles of human rights contemplated by our legal system.
