From May 18 to 21, 2026, the State Directorate of Health (DES), through the Directorate of Indigenous, Intercultural Health and Complementary Therapies, carried out a logistical deployment, both air and river, specially designed to guarantee timely, free and quality medical care directly in hard-to-reach indigenous communities in the state of Amazonas, a comprehensive effort framed in the Yanomami Health Plan .

To meet this objective, a two-stage air operation was carried out in which three aircraft were used to reach the communities of Parima B and Chalbaud, in the Alto Orinoco municipality, and to carry out the replacement of medical professionals. In addition, the delivery of general medical supplies, antimalarial treatments, vaccines, personal hygiene kits and mosquito nets for the prevention of endemic diseases was guaranteed.

On the other hand, a seven-day river shipping route was activated simultaneously to the municipality of Rio Negro, where two doctors provided their services directly to the inhabitants.

With these mobilizations carried out thanks to the support of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to reach these areas that are difficult to access geographically, the public healthcare system in the region is strengthened. This achievement was consolidated under the management of the Single Health Authority, Dr. Joskany La Rosa and the Indigenous Health Coordination by Dr. Freddy Pérez, in order to guarantee the well-being of indigenous peoples and intercultural health, in compliance with the health policies of the Ministry of Popular Power for Health (MPPS).
