Qatar and other countries in the region are actively working to stop the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel and to resume diplomatic dialogue, Majid al Ansari, spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference this Tuesday.
The Arab country collaborates closely with the Sultanate of Oman and maintains daily contact with Washington in an effort to calm the situation. According to Al Ansari, previous talks between Iran and the United States were positive, and Qatar advocates their continuity.
The conflict intensified on June 13, when Israel launched preventive attacks against military installations in Iran, thus declaring an open war. To date, clashes have left hundreds of victims in both countries.
As published on the Sputnik website, the Qatari authorities reiterated their commitment to peace and stability in the region, promoting initiatives that favor the reduction of tensions and the return to negotiations.
