Plan 25 for the 25th reached
Miranda state, specifically at the headquarters of Bookstores of the South located in Guarenas
(Casa de la Cultura), Los Teques (Casa de la Cultura Cecilio Acosta) and Santa
Lucía (Casa de la Diversidad Cultural San Benito).
This was announced by the Undersecretary of
Culture of the Government of Miranda, Octavio Sánchez, who stressed that this program,
which seeks to expand the habit of reading among young people, is a strategy
of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture.
He also explained that Plan 25 by
25 not only delivers books, but also builds tools for
intellectual resistance. “These works allow us to create spaces for reflection,
formation and awareness of our youth, especially in these times
of cognitive war and battle for the narrative facing the country,”
he said.
For her part, the deputy to the
National Assembly (AN), Gabriela Simoza, accompanied the start of the day and explained how
simple it is to participate in this benefit. “We invite all
Mirandina youth to go to these bookstores on Thursdays and Fridays to buy their book
for free. Just by presenting your identity card, you register and you will receive a
weekly copy of this important collection,” he said.
In this first phase, the plan includes
eight titles out of the 25 that make up the complete collection, including Operación Carlota by
Gabriel García Márquez;
Specific music by Amparo Dávila and pieces by authors such as Miguel Ángel Asturias and Juan Gelman.
The remaining 17 titles will be added progressively during
2026 to cover genres such as chronicle, poetry and the novel.
This project is the result of an international agreement between Venezuela and the Fund for Economic Culture of Mexico, with the support of the National Book Center (CENAL) and Monte Ávila Editores. The plan envisages the distribution of 200,000 copies throughout the country to promote critical analysis in the new generations.
