Rescue work continues in the buildings affected after the earthquakes that occurred last June 24, during a deployment in the Macuto parish in the state of La Guaira, 64 people from the rescue group of the Colombian National Risk and Disaster Management Unit are working to provide support and peace of mind to Venezuela.
In this regard, in a publication published by Venezolana de Televisión on its website, it points out that the rescuer from the neighboring country, Héctor Azuaje, highlighted the rescue of an 11-year-old boy who was with his mother and little sister.
“We worked for more than six hours to achieve the rescue and I think that's what fills us up and gives us strength to continue with the support,” he said.
He also explained how they do the search work with a dog. “They give us specific markings where we should do that rescue or where we should make that rupture of plaques that are on living people,” he explained.
Azuaje highlighted the technological equipment they have, which show the movements and even the heartbeats of potential survivors inside the structure.
The Colombian rescuer sent a message of solidarity to the Venezuelan people. “We must have a lot of strength, a lot of resilience (...) Not relapsing, this is not the time to say other words, just to have a lot of strength,” he said.
