From October 4 to February 28, 2025, the call for participation in the 21st edition of the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize will be open, to encourage the creative activity of writers from different countries, as announced by Minister Ernesto Villegas.
During the event held at the headquarters of the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies Foundation (CELARG), Villegas praised the house and institution created in honor of the remembered writer, for being a space for debate, culture, research, thought and letters.
“Let's hope that there will be a lot of nominations, a lot of novels for this award and that the best one will be recognized, as it always has been,” he said.
For his part, the Sectorial Vice President for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ñáñez, stated that the 21st edition of the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize is a call that changes the orbit of contemporary narratives, inviting them to rediscover themselves on a permanent basis.
“To find ourselves in poetics, in thought, with this Rómulo Gallegos Prize, with the Critical Thinking Award and with the Víctor Valeria Mora Poetry Prize,” he explained.
The prize will be awarded to the best literary work, in accordance with the verdict of the jury, and must meet the merits of quality and suitability associated with the distinction. In addition, the winner will receive a diploma and the amount of one hundred thousand dollars. The final list of participating works will be published on the CELARG website.
