The Northern Fleet, Gadzhiyevo, in the Russian province of Murmansk, announced the arrival of the new strategic nuclear submarine Kniaz Pozharski at its permanent base.
The commander of the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Anatoli Kovalenko, said that the ship will join the group of strategic submarine cruisers.
The Kniaz Pozharski cruiser is a strategic nuclear submarine of the 955A Boréi-A project, belonging to the fourth generation, highlighting its important role in the nuclear triad and the power of its weapons.
The submersible has high maneuverability and enjoys virtually unlimited autonomy thanks to the nuclear propulsion of the OK‑650V atomic reactor, and is capable of moving at a speed of up to 30 knots (about 55 km/h), at an operational immersion depth of about 400 meters with a maximum of 480, with a navigation range of 90 days and the crew consists of approximately 100 people.
