Russia and Ukraine finalize new prisoner exchange

This Thursday, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the return of a third group of prisoners from Kiev, in exchange for a group of detainees belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to an official statement from the security agency, “on June 12 of this year 2025, in accordance with the Russian-Ukrainian agreements reached on June 2 of this year in Istanbul, a group of Russian soldiers was returned from territory controlled by the Kiev regime”.

Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus, where they receive psychological and medical assistance, this exchange is in addition to the two previous ones carried out on June 9 and 10, prioritizing on the first date the return of fighters under 25 years of age.

Despite the advances, the Russian Ministry of Defense regretted Ukraine's unwillingness to carry out daily exchanges of prisoners of war, as agreed in Istanbul.
