The Russian Federation announced a 48-hour ceasefire in Ukraine for Victory Day. This measure, ordered by President Vladimir Putin, commemorates the triumph over Nazi Germany. The truce began at midnight on May 8 and will end at the beginning of May 10.

During this period, Russian troops in the area of operations will cease all hostilities. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the order is fully enforceable for all its units. The objective is to respect the most important holiday in the nation's historical and civil calendar.

Moscow formally urged the government of Ukraine to follow this example and stop the attacks. The Kremlin seeks that both sides respect the symbolism of the historic date. This pause is expected to stop fighting on the front lines during the celebrations.

Russia warned that any violation of the armistice will receive an appropriate military response. Russian forces will remain vigilant in the face of possible attacks on their populations or positions. The safety of their ranks remains an absolute priority despite the ceasefire.
