This Monday, the presidential spokesman of the Russian Federation, Dmitri Peskov, declared that the situation in Cuba is “really critical” due to fuel supply problems for planes and carriers, aggravated by the tightening of United States (US) sanctions.
Peskov noted that Moscow maintains constant contact with Cuban authorities through diplomatic and technical channels, with the objective of finding joint solutions to face US imperial sanctions.
“The suffocating techniques on the part of the United States are causing serious difficulties for the country,” lamented the spokesman, who said that Russia is evaluating different forms of support.
Peskov also noted that “we are talking to our Cuban friends about possible ways to solve these problems or, at least, to provide whatever help is available to us.”
Last week, the Russian ambassador in Havana, Viktor Koronelli, recalled that the supply of Russian oil to Cuba has been constant in recent years and announced that this practice will continue, reaffirming Moscow's commitment to the island's energy stability.
The Cuban government, led by Miguel Díaz-Canel for its part, announced on February 6 a package of measures to address the intensification of U.S. policies.
